Your chance to network at our Conference Dinner and Drinks Reception
Ready for more networking, or all networked out?
Whatever your state of mind, stay onsite and join us at Murrays. Delicious food and fine wines will be served in this fabulous new centre adjacent to the Sanger Institute. Chill out on the deck, or try your luck at the roulette tables – but do come along and join in the fun!
Following the last session of the day please join us for more networking in the relaxed surrounding of the orchard at the back of the conference centre where drinks and canapés will be served. Both sequencing and Cambridge tours will be collected from here.
The Sanger Institute made the largest single contribution to the Human Genome Project, and is now using studies of natural and experimental genomic variation to tackle human disease. In the tour you will visit the scientific campus, including the extension, opened in 2005. The Sanger Institute is the UK's largest providers of genomic information and the tour will take place in the sequencing centre, which generates some 70-80M bases of DNA per day. Also included will be the data centre, which handles some 12M hits each week.
Evening Drinks in Jesus College and
Cambridge Walking Tour Thursday 11th June For our visitors from out of town* we've organised a Cambridge Blue Badge tour the guide will meet your coach in Cambridge and take you on a short walking tour of the oldest part of the city, the riverside area where Cambridge first began.
The tour will finish at Jesus College, one of the most peaceful and spacious colleges, founded by the Bishop of Ely in 1496. The college originally consisted of buildings taken over from the nunnery of St Mary and St Radegund, and a drinks reception has been arranged for you in the historic room where the Prioress used to love; the oak half-panelled walls, open fireplace and portraits lend a unique atmosphere. Drinks and canapes will be served.
After the reception there will be some free time to explore the local hostelries. Nearby King Stree has some interesting pubs, from the tiny St Radegund (the smallest pub in Cambridge) to the King Street Run (the pub's sign will give you a clue as to the famous story behind this name!).
The executive coach will take you back to Hinxton at the end of the evening.
There will be a charge of £25 + VAT to attend this tour.
