Your chance to network at our Conference Dinner and Drinks Reception
Ready for more networking, or all networked out?
Whatever your state of mind, stay onsite and join us for a party to celebrate the events 10th anniversary at Murrays. Delicious food and fine wines will be served in this fabulous new centre adjacent to the Sanger Institute. Chill out on the deck, or try your luck at the roulette tables – but do come along and join in the fun and fireworks!
Following the last session please join us for more networking in the relaxed surrounding of the orchard at the back of the conference centre where drinks and canapés will be served. Both sequencing and Cambridge tours will be collected from here.
The Sanger Institute made the largest single contribution to the Human Genome Project, and is now using studies of natural and experimental genomic variation to tackle human disease. In the tour you will visit the scientific campus, including the extension, opened in 2005. The Sanger Institute is the UK's largest providers of genomic information and the tour will take place in the sequencing centre, which generates some 70-80M bases of DNA per day. Also included will be the data centre, which handles some 12M hits each week.
Kings College Chapel and
Cambridge Walking Tour Thursday 8th May For our visitors from out of town* we've organised a private guided tour of Kings College Chapel, dating back to 1441, and the most celebrated church in Cambridge. Fancy a pint of traditional English ale after all that culture? A punt will pick delegates up from the chapel and take you on a journey along the River Cam. Then stroll across the road to the most famous pub in Cambridge. Join us for some traditional English "pub-grub" at The Eagle, where Crick and Watson interrupted the patrons’ lunchtime on 28 February 1953 to announce that they had discovered "the secret of life".
There will be a charge of £25 + VAT to attend this tour.
